Earlier this week I spent the afternoon wondering around the lake looking at the Canberra Centenary celebrations. I took the K5 with me for a bit of street shooting (something Ive never tried before).
Within about 1/2hr it was already getting heavy. By the time we got back to the car, it was just terrible. Between the extra battery grip and the rather heavy 20-40mm Sigma; it was beyond a joke.
Well, as it turns out that night I found a Pentax Q on Gumtree for a price I was happy with. But it was pick-up only. So I got my mate Mitch to get it for me and post it down. It arrived this morning.
Firstly the obvious thing. It’s *TINY*. Like, properly small. But with a freshly formatted SD card and a charged battery I was up and running in no time.
I can’t give it a proper view just yet as I’ve only taken half a dozen shots with it. But thus far I’m very impressed with the build quality and operation. It has a very nice weight to it and everything feels solid and properly put together. About the only grumble I could have is the shutter delay. In that regard it is more like using a compact than a real camera. Which is a shame.
