Torn
So this is where I’m at. I have a Q and a K5 (The K5 is fully loaded with grip and an extra eye piece) and the K-01.
Up until yesterday I have just the 8mm prime for the Q, but a whole raft of lenses (mostly wide-angleish) in K mount.
My experiment the other day with a Q>K adapter was disheartening to say the least
The upshot of the Q is obviously size. Not that I actually ‘pocket’ it at all; but even hanging from its strap its nice and light and doesnt get in the way.
Mind you, compared to a fully loaded K5, the K-01 isn’t exactly huge.
Im also a bit disappointed with the low-light/high ISO abilities of the Q, but in saying that I have been quite spoilt with the K5.
But I do love the Q
I should probably add why I got the Q in the first place. Nutshell version; the K5 just became too big/heavy for any long day/walking around, motorcycle trips yadda yadda yadda.
But now I have the K-01 as well and I love it. Such a great versatile camera and I can reuse all my K-mount lenses.
I was sure my future was in the K-01.
But then today a well-priced 02 Zoom for the Q I found recently on eBay showed up. Its almost a game changer for the Q. The added versatility for the Q is terrific.
However the usability of each camera is kind of duplicated. Both are much smaller than the K5 (with the Q obviously being much, MUCH smaller). The K-01 is obviously much better image quality and better at low light/high ISO work and can take my other Pentax lenses. BUT… the Q is so small and handy and the prime with the 02 zoom pretty much make a great duo for 99% of my shooting.
Do I sell the K-01 and perhaps buy the longer 06 zoom for the Q? or, Do I sell the adorable Q and buy a more versatile lens (either an 18-200 or a fast 17-50) for the K-01?
*sigh*
