Tassie – Day 6
Our second day in Hobart started with ominous looking clouds again, but we headed out anyway.
First stop was the Cadbury Factory. When we got there we discovered that they dont actually run tours through the factory anymore (bugger) instead all you get is a presentation and video, and access to the ‘cheap’ store. Not bad for $7 I guess – but not really why we went there. We grabbed a few things from the shop, and made our exit.
On our way out to Port Arthur the day before, we had seen a great oyster place that looked perfect for lunch, so we headed back out there. We got there only to find that the whole resturant had been booked out for a tour bus that was coming in. And with the staff making no effort to try and find us somewhere to sit – we made out exit. Now we kinda had no where to go for lunch and nothing to do for the afternoon.
On our way back into town, we noticed a turn off for the Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. So what the hell – we look a look. And glad we did. The place is a real Oasis. They have a wonderful resurant on site. We had an awesome luch and a really nice wonder through the gardens. If you get the chance, go and check out the Japanese gardens – very worth while.
With our feeting getting a bit saw (and my back giving me greif) we headed back into the CBD.
We grabbed a few things we needed (new headphones etc) and went for a walk around the city. It really is a grand old place, and really taken care off (perhaps Queenstown Council should take notes).
We had a wonderful dinner at ‘The Duke’ just down the road from our BnB. I really recommend this place if your in Hobart.
An early night was to be had, as were where off to Bicheno the next day.
