Android….. again (part 2)
The Xperia wasnt cutting it and with a new research project at work requiring a minimum ICS based phone, I now have a HTC One S to work with.
The physical phone is very nice. Big, very bright screen with quite intense colours. Performance is stunning compared to the baby Xperia (1Ghz dual core vs 1.7Ghz dual core and more RAM).
Needless to say, the first thing I need was to go looking for custom roms, which proved a problem. Its seem the Aus-spec One S uses a 1.7Ghz S3 Snapdragon processor while most of the rest of the world for the phone with a 1.5Ghz S4 Snapdragon cpu. So this means that 99% of the dev work is for a slightly different phone. However I did manage to get a slightly stripped out, slightly tweaked ROM called TrickDROID running. And its running well.
Thus far – very happy – more to follow.
