And a little more work
This afternoon (ahh, i love half days) saw some more work happening.
In between more bogging and sanding on the leg shields, I decided to take a look at some of the rust issues. The whole bike is pretty much covered in surface rust in spot.
However I’m not wanting to completely strip it. The bike actually has a bit of history so I just want to tidy up whats there as best I can.
I managed to at least dull the rust on the paint work with a bit of Mothers Mag polish, some fine steel wool, and a lot of elbow grease. This cleaned it up ‘less bad’.
I then hit it with a solid dose of cutting compound and the buffing wheel on my drill. Believe it or not, there is actually a nice coat of paint under there.
The wheels came up a treat using my nylon brush attachment for the drill, however they still need to come off so I can tackle the hubs.
Sadly I went a biut too far on the exhaust, its ended up all patchy. But a new one was on the shopping list any way.
The engine cases got a bit of a clean too with some polish and steel wool.
